Get out and treat your disease. There is a disease running rampant out in the world. There is a much deadlier one that will run rampant inside my home if I isolate there.
I’m stuck smack in the middle of the 2.
Covid has really f’d things up for us in recovery. Isolation is dangerous for us. The more I stay inside, and inside my head, the less healthy I am. At this point, I’m more scared of my disease than Covid
I’ve always been way more afraid of my alcoholism than Covid. Now that I’ve had it, even more so. I have to do all things according to steps 1-3. For me it’s non negotiable. When I give my will and life over, I don’t pick and choose which things. All things. Of course I don’t bop around like a no mind. If there is something obvious that I need to take care of I do it. All other things are God’s. I obviously need to go to meetings or I will drink. If I drink there is a super huge chance I will die. I go to meetings. Covid isn’t so obvious. Everyone’s confused. When I am confused, then that’s God’s to handle. Doing nothing has worked out so very well for me on so many things, that I don’t question it (again when it’s not obvious what I am to do).
Besides if God has enough of a sense of humor to save me from alcoholic death only to kill me with Covid, I don’t mind being part of the punchline.
I’m not scared of getting covid. I’m scared of spreading it at the retirement community where I work. I’m young enough, healthy enough and vaccinated beyond cdc recommendation. But omicron can still ruin someone in their 80’s or 90’s so I zoom. For now. I live in a place where being considerate of other people is too often viewed as an infringement of a person’s rights to their “free country”.
I get that. I just don’t know that any precaution other than “you go to work, you go directly home” is going to work. Nothing is stopping the Omicron. Cloth masks aren’t, six feet isn’t, vaccine isn’t. IMO it’s out of our control and pretty much has always been. I’m not saying that I’m glad that’s the case, but I’ve gotten pretty good at accepting when something is out of my control, turning it over, and moving on. Just something I have to do to stay sober. I leave the toil and stress to those better qualified for it.
I do the leg work. God delivers the results.
Amen y’all!!!
