Gia Carangi

She is such an icon. I love couture fashion a lot it's one of the many things that makes me happy. Not because of how much it cost that because I see it as a true art form. Gia's story is such a sad, cautionary tale of what can happen to many people. I still look up to her and I was not alive and she was alive, but every year I make a memorial house about her because I really like her career. Does anybody remember Gia? How did you learn about Gia Carangi ? I watch the movie GIA with Angelina Jolie and my sibling also told me a lot about Gia.

I studied apparel design for years, have seen the movie when I was too young to understand the idea behind addiction. Movies such as Requiem For A Dream, the Basketball Diaries, half Nelson, etc- I used to fantasize/romanticize the idea of how the struggle was a beautiful thing. It's really not, I know! But the rawness and grittiness instilled in me compassion, and in some very odd way created an understanding of how addiction really works... most tragedies are sad, but they are rarely ever forgotten.
