Making dinner for my Grandma tonight! This is definitely a gift of sobriety cause I would have never thought of this when I was drinking or using!
What are some of your gifts you’ve received in sobriety?
That’s awesome brother
Being sober is definitely such a blessing! My kids actually like having me around now and I have the privilege of babysitting for them. I got to keep my 4 and a half month old grandson overnight last night and was the 1st one that my daughter that didn't speak to me for 3 years allowed to watch her 2 year old son. This is all by the grace of God and actually working a program.
The promises come true for me every day.
Thank you
Beautiful! I love to hear these sobriety stories. It’s good to share these moments with others who understand the journey we’ve been through.
That’s awesome!
I totally agree with you as I just got off the phone with my son. He never likes to talk o the phone and today we talked. It was wonderful.
Love it I can see that she's very happy about it I'm so glad to have a clear mind and conscience
Our sobriety is a gift to our loved ones too.
Thank you
Yes, it’s the clear mind! Plus I’ve noticed that my fight or flight response system has been turned off and manageable… it’s like a sense of peace has come over me. Content with life.
Love it!
Man, that is great! I never got that chance. The only thing I ever did to my great grandmother was steal her SS $ for drinking. I wish she were here so I could do good things.
As far as gifts from sobriety, the list is long! A happy marriage is probably at the top.
This is awesome
thanks for sharing!
Dave, Thank you for sharing. Remember we are living our amends to those we harm that we can’t talk to by how we live our lives today. I believe your Great Grandmother’s spirit is guiding in your sobriety. I’ve had these spiritual awakenings from my Great Grandmother who passed away many years ago. My initial sobriety date, from meth, is on her birthday. 11-19-2019. She was born 11-19-1919. It’s these little things that I call God shots that has helped me believe in the Holy Spirit.
Keep living your Amends to her by staying sober today, doing the next best right thing and helping others where you can.
I’m glad to hear that your marriage is doing well! That is definitely a beautiful gift of sobriety.
Welcome JW! Stay sober my friend just for today.
These responses are so helpful. I have only started day two. I had two years of sobriety from 2014 to 2016 and then began drinking again, end of 2016. Life became so much worse. I am seriously just taking it moment by moment. Returning to meetings and giving myself a break. The shame and guilt only make me want to drink. How awesome that you had this opportunity, Kevin Curry!
Thanks Kevin
I got sober the first time in 2002 and stayed sober for almost 9 years. But I screwed up for about 3 years and now I'll be coming up on 8th. Back in 2003 when I was taking the steps for the first time and making amends my sponsor solution to making amends to people that have since passed away or I would never see again was to write each one of them a letter individually. And you're right I'm supposed to be making a living amends. That's what he told me too.
Spending quality time with my children and grandchildren. I missed so much. Trying to make up for lost time
Welcome
Sounds like you have a good a sponsor.
Everyday we are sober doing the next best right thing we are actually living out our amends.
Keep doing the next best right thing my friend! I’m glad you made it back!
I totally understand. And we get to do this sober… very good
