I enjoyed this reading. I still struggle with receiving help, compliments, etc. but sobriety has helped a lot with that. I see the value in asking for help when I need it. I've become more receptive to compliments instead of trying to shy away from them. I know how good I feel when I'm able to help someone else, and am trying to be better at receiving that help when it's offered or needed.
Good stuff Molly! I’m the same way…always deflecting nice comments with sarcastic humor. As for asking for help, same too. I’ve learned that this is my ego, not wanting to feel vulnerable, and not feeling worthy. Lots to unpack and learn from, but this is what recovery is all about! Thanks for the share!!
Ah yes I'm big on sarcasm too! And in recovery I have definitely learned a lot about my ego and just how often it comes into play. Always a process of growth and learning more about myself, which I love that I get to do sober.
Life is a delicate balance of giving and receiving. How many times I refused any assistance due to my ego! And how many times I insisted on pleasing those around me without any consideration to my own needs! Very powerful lessons. Thanks Molly!!
I love this! Thank you for sharing
