Gods will not mine

Trying to let go and let God this morning. I am powerless over alcohol and alcoholism. My life has become unmanageable. Turning my will and my life over to the care of God as I understand him. Trying hard not to take back the controls.

That phrase used to really push me away from the program. Many of the words in the steps I took literally and as absolutes. I had to stop making things so complicated and impossible. I had to remember this is a program of progress, not perfection. We are human. We naturally have a will. It’s always going to be a struggle to “turn it over”. Furthermore, it’s not a light switch that we just flip the switch and it’s done forever. Today I’m mindful of the battle between my subconscious, my self will, and my desires vs my conscious that is aligned with my HP. I have learned over time to fight less and surrender more. It’s a work in progress one day at a time.

Thank you for that. I am walking thru a incredibly difficult situation in my life, actually the worst I have ever been thru. Working step 3 is critical to my survival and I’m working it 50+ times a day. No light switch for sure. Just practice practice practice.

Yes. The disease of alcoholism is horrible. My significant other has been working on her story for over a month in a different location than our home. The kids and I have been adrift. Thank God for the AA program to help keep me sane.
