I wish you well. Just think of all the negative things that follow that first drink whenever you inevitably start to crave it. Also, if you are a heavy alcoholic, you'll need to detox and I can't recommend medical detox enough. The physical symptoms of alcohol detox can be pretty scary and they manage that as well as can be. Its still not pleasant but it was multitudes easier than detoxing on my own , in the hospital, or in jail, which were my three previous detoxes. Just something to consider. Good luck Rita

Thank you. One day at a time right? Congrats on your recent sobriety. It’s hard but I know there is hope for us all. We all have different stories but are all fighting the same fight. Take care of yourself.

Rita, do you have any sober friends in real life? By sober, I mean, they are active in recovery and know where you're coming from? It's a big difference than having friends that simply don't drink.

If not, please get into an AA meeting and meet some people. There are all kinds of meetings out there.

What's the biggest city closest to you?

No I do not and I realize how important that is. I’m going to look into meeting locations by me. Thank you because that is an important point you made.

Excellent. The women of AA take care of eachother. See if you can find any women's meetings near you.

Hang in there.

Listen to podcast “sober awkward” - start with episode 1 - alcohol ain’t my mate - very funny but also inspirational..

I hope you're okay Rita! Always reach out here for support! People here care! We all do, and we all have the same mental affliction. We support each other and always have each others backs. I get support here from people across the country! And it's wonderful

Thank you!

Hi. I have to remember how I feel when I stop: the withdrawl, depression that follows, not showing up for work because I can't get out of bed for the ne t 2 days, etc. The list goes on and on. Think it all the way thru. You can do this. If not one day at a time one hour at a time worked for me in the beginning.

Hi. Thank you. I am so sick and tired of being crippled by alcohol. I don’t clean my house like I used to, am always tired, my skin looks bad, I can’t lose weight for the life of me and my emotions are all over the place. The list goes on and on. It’s almost insanity that I keep drinking when it has no benefits and only negatively impacts so many parts of my life, body and mind.
