Good morning all,

I’m new to this group, but I’ve been reading a lot of messages about people tempted to just have one drink now and then. From someone who has quit several times let me tell you that this does not work. And as life goes on your dependency and therefore your recovery will become greater. I finally did a 28 day in-patient rehab this last time and I hobbled in on the first day. I went to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and I was incapable of standing…at all. I literally had to crawl to the bathroom. It was several days before I could safely walk to the bathroom and around the facility. The first 4 days were spent in a dark room. This will forever be etched in my brain that I never want to go through that again. It has also really helped me to find a good psychologist as well to get to the root of the problem. Depression in my case. My psychologist is 12 years clean and is really helping me to see the real me. I’m now 46 days clean but far from where I want to be. The one thing I keep in mind is he told me….”it doesn’t seem like it now because you have been drinking for so long, but you are going to love your life sober so much more than when you were drinking”.

My best wishes for all of you.
