Good morning family! please know as you read these morning

Thought for the Day

There are two important things we have to do if we want to get sober and stay sober. First, having admitted that we're helpless before alcohol, we have to turn our alcoholic problem over to God and trust Him to take care of it for us. This means asking Him every morning for the strength to stay sober that day and thanking Him every night. It means really leaving the problem in God's hands and not reaching out and taking the problem back to ourselves. Second, having given our drink problem to God, we must cooperate with Him by doing something about it ourselves. Am I doing these two things?

Meditation for the Day

I must prepare myself by doing each day what I can to develop spiritually and to help others to do so. God tests me and trains me and bends me to His will. If I am not properly trained, I cannot meet the test when it comes. I must want God's will for me above all else. I must not expect to have what I am not prepared for. This preparation consists of quiet communion with God every day and gradually gaining the strength I need.

Prayer for the Day

I pray that I may really try to do God's will in all my affairs. I pray that I may do all I can to help others find God's will for them.

The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are. - Sober Time's message for March 7, 2023.

Confusing.

I get requests to keep God out of my posts

You are right I changed it I don't want that responsibility

It was confusing because you first state that "you don't have to believe in god to stay sober", but then in the next paragraph you said it was necessary to accept god to get sober.

That's what's confusing.

My only issue with "god in your posts" is that you (you're not the only one) say unequivocally that one needs to have god to get/stay sober and you ALWAYS talk more about god than sobriety. This just isn't practical for everyone and telling people they need a religious conversion to get sober is COMPLETE NONSENSE.

This is why I push back on your posts. Christians tend to do this no matter what. They always push their agenda. Yes I get it, you see it as positive. But trying to make a person come to your god is just wrong, especially when you tell them that it's the only way to get sober.

Religion is a private matter. Maybe keep it that way, and just talk about practical sobriety.

FWIW I am coming up on a year sober, with absolutely no god/higher power etc. I don't think I'm "the center of the universe", and honestly I don't even know what that really means. Sounds like some weird polarizing shït people made up to basically just call someone selfish. And if that's the case, what does believing in a "higher power" have to do with simply not being selfish? Nothing. God believers do not have the monopoly on doing what's right. That is a myth.

I DO however believe that I am just as important as everyone else around here. If I'm not, and if you're not, then what's the point of anything? We are only important to people who need us. If we were on an island we would be important to nobody. If you and I were on an island and you had no arms and legs, you would be the center of my universe, in that I would have to take care of you, and I would be yours because you would need me to take care of you. My point is that the "center of the universe" as people understand it is mercurial. It is quantified differently for everyone. Every girlfriend I have ever had was the center of my universe at the time. There are people here who's cat is their center. So that whole higher power on the basis of keeping ones self importance in check is ridiculous.

I know you mean well. You got this "favorite song" that you just want everyone else to hear. I can dig that. But telling people if they don't like your song that they will fail is simply wrong. I seriously doubt that your "Jesus" would even agree with what you're "preaching".

You wanna help people? Then be helpful. Read your bible's thoughts on prayer in James 2. Read where it says that if someone comes to you hungry and you tell them you'll pray for them that you are basically doing nothing at all.

Maybe stop pushing religion and help people get sober with reality.

I don't do Jesus I put a message out there the morning meditation and I am enabled my stage and recovery to take what applies to me and leave the rest which is what makes this program so amazing

Jesus, god, whatever flavor you prefer.

You rarely, if ever, speak on the practical points of a program such as fellowship with sober people etc, but instead focus on the supernatural stuff, and again, you consistently tout that belief is imperative to get and stay sober. This is a poison Idea.

God is the one that helped you to get where you are today. Keep your faith, don't let anyone tempt you to change your beliefs? Stay the course!

Typical.

Nobody is telling her to "change her beliefs". If you both think that is what I am saying then you either have really poor reading comprehension or you are typical triggered believers. If it's something YOU don't like, such as someone telling YOU to stop telling people that your way is yhe only way, you get whiney and think that YOU are the one being oppressed. If YOUR beliefs are challenged in anyway, you are offended, despite you being the one who is holding religion over someone's head to get sober. How fücking selfish is THAT?

If you feel "tempted to change your beliefs", well that's you, maybe you have some doubts of your own. That's not me trying to change your beliefs. I vehemently disagree with all religions, especially American Christianity, but I haven't once given the reasons to "preach" my beliefs.

Again, for the last time, my point is this:

Stop telling people that the only way they can get and stay sober isn't belief in god, your god anyone's god, whatever. It's disgusting to dsay that to someone. You do not care about people in addiction, you only care to get more numbers to your beliefs. Stop it.

There is no discussion with you. I have already said that multiple times

Hey Taylor, I wasn't preaching but I understand how you feel about her post? People that are trying to get sober and want to express themselves sometimes go off the rails? If you read carefully, between the lines, this is how she is getting through her journey! You should believe that there's something, anything higher than yourself, I don't care if it is a fu..kin door knob? I don't do well with a fu..kin bully and your bulldozing ways either? I hope you find a place for your anger, eventually it will find a place for you!
