Got 115 days today. I went to a wonderful recovery workshop today. Not only did I sign up for film school and hvac training a few weeks ago, today I signed up to become a recovery coach. After my son passed away august 2015 I relapsed and put myself aside. I stopped pursuing my dreams and taking care of myself. May of last year I decided to go to rehab and change that. June of last year I relapsed 2 weeks being home because I didn’t change anything. The end of September I decided to try something different, I quit my jobs and went to detox in October. After detox I again wanted to try something different and now I’m in a long term residential center. I am not homeless but because I don’t want to go back home because that’s a relapse trigger I asked the program to help me with housing. I’ve been at the most peace I’ve been in a long time. It is possible and I know that. I’m being as patient as I can be.
Yea Dwayne!! Keep up the good work and keep pursuing those dreams that build you up!
Thanks Jenn. I appreciate the kind words. I’m focused. And this community is pretty dope.
Give this thing a chance bro and it will give you a chance!
Peace is definitely a beautiful thing.. great to know your experiencing that thing!
I am so incredibly proud of you brother. What a power of example you are. Whatever you need whenever you need I’m there.
Thank you MJ. That means a lot to me. It’s never easy but I appreciate you and everyone else here and my sober network.

Wow! Amazing courage and desire to change things for the better! You have just inspired someone that you don’t know personally and that has been all day struggling with cravings… Me! Thanks!!
Thank you
Thank you. Appreciate it
Thank you!
Thank you Cheryl. I appreciate the kind words. And yes life could be difficult but at least we are dealing with it sober, and congrats on 3 hrs 7 months.
Keep up the good fight!!!
Thank you for saying that. That actually made me feel good that by sharing it has helped you. Trust me not all days are easy. Today wasn’t easy for me as a memory from fb popped up about my son, and I was in downtown Manhattan with drugs and everything all around me. But luckily I had my roommates who are also sober with me and I talked about it. In the end I had a great day shopping and eating good food. Even better day to come back home and see these comments. It makes me even more proud of myself. That’s where it starts with myself. As long as I’m good with me then things are a lot better.
From the frozen depths of Northwestern MN... ur story warms my heart
! 115 days is WONDERFUL!! Ur story is so powerful~ bc it shows we r ALL vulnerable 2relapse! And by figurinf out one od ur nastier triggers-- ur not only sober Dwayne... ur workin & LIVING ur recovery! Proud of u!! Hope qll continues 2go well *hugs!
Thank you so much for your wonderful words. I am actually overwhelmed with happiness right now. I’ve never in my 33 years of life had anyone tell me they were proud of me, and now I have strangers and even myself saying it. I’ve sat with this my whole life not thinking highly of myself and here I have a community of people telling me they are proud of me. Thank you.
