Got home from rehab Friday and it’s been hard adjusting

Got home from rehab recently and it’s been hard adjusting. I’m use to being around 60 people and now that I’m home alone it’s been hard.

Hi Aaron, that sounds like it would be a really hard adjustment. Are you attending meetings of any kind to receive support? Aside from the support your receive on here, of course!

I’m going to start meetings again on Wednesday. I have my daughter for the next couple of nights. I need to find a new home group.

Glad to hear you are planning on meetings. In my very small town there is a sober living house, they guys there make up 80% of our AA group. As stupid as it sounds, I’m jealous of them sometimes. I live alone, with my son halftime. Those guys always have someone right there. I know many of them fear the same as you, what happens when I leave here?

My biggest problem and trigger is time management. I work 6 or 7 days a week. Trying to manage that with seeing my daughter, meetings, cooking, and the gym is going to be hard but I know it’s what o have to do. If I’m drinking my, fu** it button will be activated and I will do nothing. I just have to stay positive and stay sober.

Good. Hopefully your daughter will provide some good distraction, and post and reach out here if you need support in between now and when you can get to a meeting. Yep, that will be important quickly!

Having too much time is a problem as well. Keeping busy keeps you from dwelling. Best wishes man, you hot this. It’s hard and sucks for a while, but pays off huge in the end

Meetings have carried me since I left rehab! I have over a year and 7 months! Also, working my steps with a sponsor. I have to keep busy in my recovery for the peace in my life! :purple_heart:

I agree 100% Kim. Thanks for reaching out. I’m digging your NA ring also :slightly_smiling_face:
