Grateful for a new candle, clean apartment, and taking time for self care. I have a big management planning half day retreat tomorrow and need to remind myself to practice active listening. Sometimes I get so concerned about my own thoughts and ideas getting heard I don't leave space to really listen to others. It's nice in sobriety to have the time and self awareness to reflect on these things, put my own ego in check, and be intentional with how I choose to show up in certain situations. I'm setting the intention to spend more time listening than talking tomorrow!

I do that too and it does get better. I jot notes sometimes so I don’t have to worry about forgetting and can attend to what is being said. I am learning that I probably have some ADHD at my advanced age. It was probably there as a first grade student because I got marks in needing to pay attention. There was no such thing then. Actually there is no deficit of attenuation it’s just super rapid thinking so I lose focus. Coffee helps a little.
