Grateful for the good night sleep I had last night. Sleep and my dreams are so different now.

Makes a difference

I’m 34 days in and can tell the difference the past couple of weeks. I still wake up but I go back to sleep easier. I am also using bedtime stories or white noise to get me going.

I have a question. So when you’re drinking you can still remember your dreams? I know mine are vivid but when I wake up and can’t remember to save my life smh

:joy: exactly. Throughout the day bits and pieces come back and I can’t remember if it was the dream or like dejavu or something. How long have you been sober now @amanda145194

Yeah. I drank to sleep too. Then I’d wake up and could not get back to sleep. Congrats on the 4 days. It does get better.

I have difficulty sleeping the entire night from time to time and I am aware that the health consequences can be very serious. aerobic exercise, such as walking, running, biking, and/or swimming help. It’s okay if I take naps too which can help a lot. I don’t have to get all eight hours at one period of sleep if I average about 8 hrs a day second sleep is rejuvenating too!

Awesome! For those still struggling, sleep is affected by more then just alcohol, watching TV before bed, scrolling phone in bed, heavy meals before bed, sugar, etc. yes giving up alcohol should help but there are other factors that can be contributing to bad sleep as well.

Very important to wake up at the same time every day no matter when you go to sleep. If you do this, you will start to get sleepy at the same time every night and sleep better.

I didn’t have insomnia before my wife died suddenly and unexpectedly in early December

Oh my. So sorry for your loss.
