Grateful to be clean today

Today I ran a bunch of errands. I am grateful because I wasn’t bothered by the thought of using drugs or alcohol. Some things didn’t turn out as I had hoped, but I didn’t let it affect my mood. I also got a lot of exercise today too. The buses and subways were very crowded in Manhattan, but I felt like I was a part of humanity, instead of that familiar kind of “separation.” Today I’m happy to be who I am. I’m thankful to the 12 Steps and program of Narcotics Anonymous for showing me a new way of life.

Wonderful I am happy you had that experience

John I love your message of experience strength and hope, you really made me realize a few things..I am a outsider bc of my addiction only if I allow myself to be either I can walk straight with the crowd of successful people or hit the alleys being on that mission of madness..it never fails John just when I'm on the right track it seems I allow myself to give in to the trial and temptation...tiresome it is to have this gorilla on my back..if only I could say not today :disappointed:

Thank-you for the kind words, Debra.

That's great news John. Haven't been to Manhattan since probably 2010. I haul cars now but back then I moved household goods for 3 1/2 yrs. I moved a doctor and his wife from up above the Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan to California.

Your message should encourage newcomers that recovery on life's terms is possible. It's a lot better than then when we were wasting away.
