Find a routine to help wind down at night. Tea, read, meditate. Etc that might help with sleeping
Shannon - I’m not usually one to tout supplements but I take Magnesium threonate at night and found that it does help me sleep.
No coffee after 4 PM magnesium in the evening melatonin is good for the first week or so but after that, it seems like you build up a tolerance, but a 5 mg of melatonin tonight is always a good idea myself. I’ll take two Benadryl. and lately that’s been working real well, but you build up a habit on that. It’s just not the best idea to go with the Benadryl. I’ve tried just about everything but yeah those things and yeah the tea seems to work good too the no caffeine with the melatonin included with the tea anyhow, my five things I’m grateful are my vehicle that’s still running connection with God that gives me through every day my AA meetings so I can be around like-minded individuals and friends, my big book and my daughter.
I appreciate your time and thought to reply. Thank you.
Cool on ur milestone
When I had trouble sleeping it was a racing mind and unpleasant thoughts
But when i realized it they weren't being beamed down from a mothership I was somehow able to ride it out
Glad ur here - bolsters my resolve
Why do you need sleep?
Seriously in early sobriety it's hard very hard, to clear your thoughts, stop thinking we have to solve our problems and the world's all in a day.
I finally found what works for me is journal
Sleepy time hot decaf tea. And tell the hamster in your head stop running on the wheel. I understand journaling helps.
Thanks for the information. Honestly I’ve been climbing the walls. Then have too be up very early for work. Which has been giving me the a lot of anxiety. Which I’ve been wound for sound since birth I think. lol. I know that journaling is a useful tool. Been working up to it. Thanks for letting me know this is part of the process.
I have a guy in my sober house that sits up all night next to me in a chair. He is not on meth but was and its frustrating. When i woke up at 8 am he was on his phone still. I said whats up, he said he was my guardian angle.
I sleep precious little these days, but if I really think about it, I feel better now on an hours sleep than I ever did sitting in front of the liquor store in the morning, waiting for it to open. Your body will shut down if you push it too far, so until that happens, try to fill the hours with all the great and positive things you can.
It took me a very long time before I could sleep regularly. It gets better with time. I know it can be a struggle, but you are doing really great.
So glad you’re here. So many supportive people here. Congratulations and keep coming back
Thank you
Thanks for everybody being so nice and supportive
Welcome!!!!
