Greetings all. New to this app and still new

Greetings all. New to the app but not exactly new to sobriety. I recently celebrated my 15 year anniversary. The past year has been really rough for me. Living alone during the pandemic, being isolated from people and the fellowship, took a hard toll. It has helped me to realize that staying sober is not my life. Staying sober is so I can have a life! So I am finding new ways to connect with people and experience more of life.

Well said. Totally agree that our sobriety is so that we may have a life

Thank you so much.

Congrats and yes looking forward to having a life myself :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you!

Wow! You are an inspiration. I agree with you, this has been an exceptionally tuff year for me as well. Hospitalized twice with pneumonia, 6 family members passed from Covid-19. I had to drop to my knees and pray for strength. It helps a lot. Then I get up and face the next crisis.

Hi TJ. Welcome

Hey TJ! 15 years! I’m on day 95. Got sober in 1989, and stayed dry until 2015-16. A lot has changed over the years, but AA is still the same. Most guys I know with long term sobriety have gone thru some rough patches. The ones that continue on seem to have all come back to AA to work with others and re work the steps themselves. Hope you stay on course. I picked up after a lot of good years and really f’d up my life pretty badly. Make sure to keep what you got :peace_symbol:

Congrats on 95 days. And credit to you for walking back into the rooms. It take strength and courage to do that and I respect it.

Thanks brother! It took a good beat down first lol

Congratulations for choosing to walk back through the doors. I’m proud of you and I’m here if you need or want someone to talk to. This pandemic has been very difficult for me too but I remain grateful because I at least have gotten myself into treatment for my mental health. That diagnosis has been a real eye opener & I learn more everyday about Bipolar depression, anxiety, & bipolar 2 disorder.

Welcome

That is great. Isolation is tough on all of us. Zoom is okay but not the same as face to face contact for me at least. How are things going in that area

Very wise words! Never heard it phrased like that, but I 100% agree.

In person meetings have been hit or miss for me lately. I recently relocated so I am still trying to sort through new meeting schedules. I also travel a bit for work which creates additional challenges. But I keep trying to make do.
