Grief & other follies

Grief is the shadow of cherished things past and of hope deferred.

But grief is also that spotlight on our own humanness and futility in thinking we are God.

I think Lucy had it right in stating, “good grief, Charlie Brown.”

Grief in good measure, in a world filled with idle words and empty promises, reminds us of the precious things that make us whole; Reminds us we are empty vessels needing to be filled.

Do not succumb to grief, it is an insatiable cancer ever reminding us of opportunities lost or never ours to begin with.

The balm to grief?
Acceptance.

Thanks for posting this. I struggle with grief. Grief over the time lost in and as a result of my active addiction. Of relationships squandered, of a career and resources tossed away, of not surrendering to recovery sooner. Acceptance is the answer. Trying to keep my chin up and move forward. Having gratitude for what I do have, most of all my sobriety. Some days is it easier than others.
