Grounded Instead of Drinking

I went outside to get in my car after having a very hard nervous system overload heavily stimulated day. I get in my car to start it up. It doesn’t crank so I call some friends that are mechanics to know about cars. They say always probably the battery. I said I’m gonna call Roadside assistance. I’ll wait the 45 minutes. The guy calls and says I am outside. I’ll go out there. He pops the hood. I mean I pop the hood. He looks under it. He says go ahead and start the car so then I try to start it and he comes around and he looks at it and he’s like oh let me let me try The car doesn’t turn over but he’s pressing the gas and pressing the gas in the smoke coming out and then a car starts. I’m relieved and I’m happy that I didn’t have a battery issue or alternator issue but I still feel the urge to want to make a bad drinking choice. So I had to turn to grounding techniques five things I can see, three things I could feel, three things I could hear, one thing I could taste or say a safe word like here or I am safe. Being an alcoholic is so freaking hard however, I’m so happy that I could choose lemonade over vodka.

Glad you chose to not drink and didn't let it ruin your day. That's a great technique that I use myself thanks for sharing. I'm proud of you keep pushing forward
