I literally just snuck into my suitmates room so I could hit her nicotine while she was asleep. I’m in the process of trying to get unaddicted to nicotine too and I told her not to let me hit it. I got buzzed and fell over and made a crashing noise while I was trying to sneak out of her room and woke her up and had to stay hunched on the side of her bed for probably 45 minutes so she didn’t hear me while she fell back asleep. I am just so desperate for nicotine and for everything and i just am such a loser for that. What the heck man I gotta do better. Never again
Are you in a rehab facility? I ask because you said suite-mate, just trying to figure out the arrangement. If you are in rehab let them know you need help with nicotine as well. They may be able to help. Addiction turns all of us into "me monsters." All we seek is things to make "me" happy. More often than not "me" getting what makes it happy leaves us embarrassed, ashamed, and disgusted. You aren't a horrible person, you are trapped by "me." The good news is we can get free of it. It just takes a lot of work.
You need to concentrate on only one thing right now. Staying sober. The other addictions can come later. This trying to quit nicotine is making you do dope fiend behaviors. Sobriety from drugs and alcohol is all need to get fixed first. Try not to lump all the others issues into one. Just don’t use is all that matters. Nicotine can come later.
No, I’m still in college and live in a dorm. Thank you, this was very comforting to read. This whole week I’ve been a “me monster” and I just hate that. Def willing to do the work, I’m just so tired of ending up back at square 1
You’re right. I honestly just don’t have the money to afford nicotine but I think you’re right that it’s been a snowball downhill spiral situation. I keep learning that sobriety is not a sprint
Ok, you might see if the school has an addiction resource. Many now have addiction counseling to combat the rise in college level drug use.
I’ll definitely look into that thanks!!
Natalia, you’re not a loser. Addiction is such a succubus. Coming from someone who finds it VERY difficult to be kind to herself, I hope you know that you’re brave & trying your best.
Lol thank you for teaching me a new word!! Thank you, I don’t think I’m a loser, just did a very loserish thing, but that self critic sure can be tough on us🙃
We’re definitely our own worst critic!
True dat
Not terrible, just learning to live life on life’s terms….
I guess so man. What a weird feeling😕
Yes we get to feel again!
One addiction at a time.
Put the bat down. Progress not perfection! You'll look back and laugh at this one day. Be well!
Idk why but this comment made my eyes water a little bit. Thank you, you’re right. Gotta give myself grace
