Has anyone else been caught in the cycle of drinking

Has anyone else been caught in the cycle of drinking even though you didn't want to?

Yes :frowning: so odd when it happens but you didn't even want to... Vicious cycle

Thank you for reply. Working on day 1, trying

Happened to me for about a year straight! Finally realized if I didn't admit that I was powerless, I probably wouldn't be alive much longer.

Thanks. I will quit today

At the end I only continued the cycle to control the symptoms of severe withdrawal. There was zero pleasure from drinking at that point.

I would highly recommend going to an AA meeting today. I know it sounds daunting, but all it is is a bunch of people JUST like you joining together to beat this disease. Some will be on the first few days like you, and others will be 1,2,10,15,20 years sober. Each story shared brings value and will show you that this isn't as "crazy" as the world makes it out to be. It's really sad how many people are struggling with this disease merely because the world has put such an isolating label on it. The first AA book was written in 1939. It was the same disease then as it is now. That should tell us something. It is actually more normal than it isn't :woman_shrugging:

I have found so much of this to be mental. Reframing/ replacing our thoughts, habits, places, scenery and some friends help a lot.
