Has anyone else felt that (AA) can be very clicky at times? I’m starting to notice a lot of drama between people in my meetings. These meetings are meant for strength, spirituality and hope. But right now I feel like my meetings are becoming like high school again. Does anyone else feel this way.
Yes!!! I find that with the women, not so much the men where I live now.
I think everything in life can be like that. But yes I notice that with meetings in AA and NA
The few meetings that I went to that were like that, I no longer go to. I found the mens meetings, at least for me, tend to be the best ones. No drama, no BS, just fellowship and accountability.
Definitely. Try to find other ones and hopefully the right one will come along for you
Good idea - going to try it out.
Glad I’m not alone - just really turned me off recently and I need my meetings. Definitely going to look for new ones.
Humans are tribal. It's inevitable. Go to different meetings til you find your people.
You kind of have to take that stuff with a grain of salt. Something to consider is some of these people who are very active members have been through very significant spiritual journeys with each other and have seen each others lives saved and changed for the better. When you're a part of a group and go through the 12 steps (which is the point of AA) you tend to get very close with the people who have done the same. It has gotten annoying to me at times in my times in the rooms but the way I figure its part of the deal. Tolerance is key. I've found once you attempt to be " a part of " people tend to be more welcoming. You have to realize the amount of people you see in AA that show up for a day, a week, or a month then disappear. After a while in the program you have to focus on the ones who actually want it and put in some effort. I've found when I get annoyed at the clickiness of my home group I go to a few meetings elsewhere and it helps. Best of luck.
Your def not alone. I’ve felt the same way. I just need to find a group I enjoy being around… idk i do alot of work at home and do IOP during the day and the meeting aspect will come to me in time… I know it’s important to stay connected but I enjoy my women from rehab and our daily check ins and just stuck with that for the moment. I know there’s other types of meetings out there other than AA/NA… Research is key… there’s tons of meetings out there for help.
When omicron was on the cusp of spreading like crazy I suggested we resume wearing masks to protect each other and our families. I might as well have painted a red line down the middle of that room. And I love my home group. They saved my life.
I am not a fan of AA because I'm mostly an addict and have been silenced in meetings before saying this is not NA. HOWEVER, I do attend a zoom meeting for AA twice a week out of state and the group of people have accepted. They have been there for me and also do daily check ups in the beginning. It's all about the people to me and that's what matters most. The AA around me and in my state sucks. Which is why I don't go to them and prefer zoom. Best of luck and keep looking you're group is out there.
Get to a new meeting. There will be one out there for you that’s meant to be!
Absolutely, it can be entertaining to watch people group together, how the dynamic can change in a room as certain groups get larger or smaller. There can also be group devisions bases on BB Interpretation and conduct opinions.
There will be a group out there waiting for you.may not be in your state.I had a heard time with that for years.I am ok know.1986
