I actually did out patient first for 47 days before I went into residential treatment facility. I was a mess. I couldn’t deal with being in society sober. Best thing I did! Got the treatment I needed. The groups, one on one therapy and then the outside Meetings and even this one guy came to the house and read the big book to us. That’s where I had my first spiritual experience. Changed my life forever. I recommend it. However I’ve also heard horror stories. If you can research on the facility. I had two options my healthcare provider gave me.
Let us know if you go in and what it was like for you… I’m always interested in a good recovery story. Stay sober my friend

I thought I could go to a detox facility and then resume “normal” life sans alcohol. After a few days detoxing two things became became abundantly clear. First, I needed a lot more help and time than I was going to get at a detox facility. Second, I needed to do whatever it takes to stay sober for my daughter and myself. I am very fortunate to have excellent insurance through my employer, and a very understanding and supportive boss. I checked into Father Martin’s Ashley, and it changed my life. I got the “me time” I needed to do a 180 in 30 days. Three and a half years later, the lessons I learned there still help keep me sober and on track. I highly recommend inpatient treatment if it is available to you.
