Has anyone here tried Refuge Recovery? It’s a Buddhism based

Awesome keep me posted I am going to look into

I got good results there. I don’t care for religion esp. Christian based one’s. Great program but in the end it’s you vs. your need for escapism which is the truth. We all have it and must realize nothing outside ourselves is going to solve our need to accept our feelings and there is no escape. We have to learn to accept this and sit with, observe and dump our attachments to the feelings which make us want to escape.

Buddhism is non-theistic, they don't believe in god(s). It's more of a philosophy than a religion, especially in less formal contexts like when it's used in recovery through yoga, mindfulness, meditation, etc. Or at least that's my understanding, and the vibe I got from the few Recovery Dharma meetings I've been to. You might be thinking of Hinduism, Sikhism, or other Eastern religions that are similar to Buddhism but with the belief and worship of god(s).

RR’s

I'm doing AA, but love doing other programs practices. I love the RR guided meditations. I live in Boston, where dharma and refuge are few and far between, but am currently on the west coast for a bit and will try to hit up a refuge or dharma meeting.

I’ve tried about everything but that other than that and AA and all failed. Doing AA now and doing fine.

Yes, you're right. Followers of Buddhism don't acknowledge a supreme god or deity. That was the point exactly. Not too far from that belief is placing another God before The Almighty. In this case, one's self.

But heh, this isn't a platform for debating theological truth so I will leave it.

Good luck on your journey.

No I have not but I will look into
