It brings perspective, helps us heal, and allows us to celebrate our recovery. Celebrate your success in recovery by doing something healthy and fun in the next week. Remember, fun does not need to be expensive. Simple pleasures work too. See how hard you can make your best friend laugh, go for a hike, take a class, read an inspiring book, see a funny movie, learn something new, hit the gym, play Frisbee, or go swimming. Do something that gets you out of your thoughts for a while and just “be.”
Here are some bad recovery jokes you can tell your friends:
My spiritual awakening occurred with a flash of lights that happened to have a cop behind it.
Now when I wake up in the morning, I say, “Good morning, God” instead of “Good God, it’s morning!”
Action for the Day
Find some activities that you really enjoy and make time for those in your daily schedule. This regular routine will give you something great to look forward to. For example, you might decide to meet with a supportive friend every Tuesday afternoon for golf or a movie.
Thought for the Day
“The past is history. The future is a mystery. The only time we really have is now—just this moment.”
