Have heard lots of mixed opinions on dating during recovery

Have heard lots of mixed opinions on dating during recovery. I have 1 month and some change… do you think that is something worth being open to, or strictly off limits?

Good afternoon Will!
Welcome to sobriety! We have no opinion on relationships or six. We do feel that some of us need an overhauling in that area. Something I read out of the big book.
As from my experience with early recovery relationships, I had a few Girlfriends. They didn’t last as I was ever changing who I am as the more sober days I stacked up in a row. I ended up hurting two of them. Still friends but it wasn’t good on my part. I’m taking a backseat on relationships so that I can stay focused on my recovery. Once I looked at my six conduct in my fourth step I found out that I’m a real selfish person. So I decided to make friends and when God wants me to be in a relationship then God will bring me what I’m looking for.
Remember this is your journey. We are told to make the next best right decision. If an opportunity comes your way and you feel safe in you sobriety then go for it. If it’s going to jeopardize your sobriety then back up and analyze your situation.

Hi Will, everyone will tell you something different. What I found for myself was that I needed lots of time to reacquaint myself with me. I also changed A LOT in my first year, so who I was last week might be totally different the following week. After things stopped shifting for me and I had sorted who I was and what I wanted, that’s when I opened myself up to dating.
