Have you ever been called out at an AA meeting before? And why? How did you handle it.

Not YET

What happened?

No. But I have seen others get called out for lying, or making excuses.

yes I guess was new to AA and everyone looked at me to share cause I was new I guess so I did I guess thats a call out lol

In my opinion, we need the context of the call out in order to answer.

Called out for what exactly?

Some old timer pulled that “we only discuss alcohol BS” to someone else. Then later in the meeting asked why their numbers were down. I explained most everyone under 40 is more than “just” an alcoholic and they were diving people away. I got up and walked out…. Found another meeting

Don’t get me wrong aa is great but sometimes you gotta really sit back be patient and just listen! Idc your age I’ll knock you into next week if anyone ever shares like this kid did and this man hit him down, you’re out of the game buddy

The kid was a ex heroine addict and alcoholic had like 1 day sober after jail and what not you could tell how beaten he was. Just from the drugs the booze and just life. I felt for him really and still do. So I feel it’s now my responsibility as a friend in AA to look out for him so no old or young man/ woman can put him down when he’s taking huge steps forward admitting he is powerless over drugs and alcohol.

So anyone who reads this just do me a favor and do the same. Humans are hurting especially addicts so take them in as your kind

For being open about how this young man has been ruled by drugs and alcohol and how mad he was! Read below Freya. The kid was a heroine and alcoholic and came out of jail after 1 year no probation involved just on his own homeless kid and he came and talked. Is that okay for someone to say hey you’re lost and get over it? Is that wise for a 70 year old man to say to anyone

Are we addicts still selfish in sobriety and preach we’re not? Or what?

Always right! You sure you’re not drinking still!!! Jkjk I know you aren’t! Cockiness how bad it comes with drunkiness!

I would absolutely never condone this behavior, especially to treat someone who is looking for help with such a lack of compassion - and no matter what you DOC is we should always support each other - it takes a lot of courage to walk into those rooms for the first time - the old guy sounds like an a**hole

Yup I agree. Idc if you’re a day sober or 36+ years sober we’re here for each other if not get out! Step one states We admitted… not I as they always say it’s a “we program,” not an “I program.”

None of us are brother man! But what’s the definition of a crooked priest? I’m having a great day don’t worry nothing you say stings me! I’m just at an age where I’ll define those I feel are taken advantage of and put down. I won’t go to jail for drinking but I will go for the defense of an individual kid who deserves rights an ears to listen like a privileged man like yourself!

And myself!

Yea most of them I read about are rapists or money feens. Maybe change to Christianity! Do you ever hear Christian leaders raping boys? No not doing it I already have a hunch about what they are just wanted you to admit to me what you thought. Is it though?
