Having a tough time this week…my first “real” vacation to

Having a tough time this week…my first “real” vacation to Hawaii… my friend knows I went to rehab and have been sober for almost 7 months, but she doesn’t seem to understand how hard it still is for me. I don’t want to ask her to NOT drink, but it’s really bothering me for some reason. Ugghhhh. Just wanted to vent!

Sending you positive vibes - enjoy the sand between your toes and the sound of the waves and experience it all with crystal clarity because you’re not drunk. Hope you have a phenomenal time and it goes down as one of your best trips :sunglasses:

Most of the time, people who drink want others to drink too to validate their drinking. Have a plan. What non-alcoholic drinks will you drink? When you feel uncomfortable, what’s your escape plan? Don’t push yourself. If you find yourself in an uncomfortable situation, make the decision to do what’s best for you. This is a big step, Suzanne. You should be so proud of yourself! You got this! If you feel weird, reach out. And have a fun & safe trip! Look for other things to do besides drinking also. Snorkeling, parasailing, surfing, dancing, maybe see if there are any sober bars where you’re going. :sparkling_heart:

Yeah felt similar over the weekend. Was hunting over the weekend and staying at our trailer and everyone was drinking Saturday night besides me and my dad got mad and told my step mom to put the alcohol away cuz I don't need to be around it. Sucked a bit to be around it but was nice to see my dad shut it down

Positive thoughts your way. Don’t push yourself too much and be honest with her. Let her know your struggles and let her make the choice. You can always find some distance in Hawaii on just walking the beach. Vent here anytime. Always here for you.

Thx Simon! In the moment it seems difficult but when I wake up refreshed, having enjoyed a beautiful evening sober with my daughter feels amazing! My friend’s daughter is with us too and I feel sad for her seeing her Mom drunk :disappointed:

Enjoy every moment with your daughter and I’m so happy for you both. Soak up all the sun and be sure to enjoy the wonderful food. Making memories forever is the most important and who knows maybe your positive vibes and great attitude might rub off on your friend accidentally. Aloha

That’s nice & respectful of your parents!!! Great job :clap:t2:

Absolutely!!! Going snorkeling :diving_mask: with the sea turtles :turtle: today!!!

Proud of you! My favorite thing about not drinking is not having hangovers! I just got back from Miami and didn’t drink. It felt good to be alert and wake up refreshed on my trip.
