having an identity crisis cos idk anything about myself when i’m sober and started using any drug so young. who tf am i? i don’t know
One small step ata time. I believe in you. Youre gona find great joy in the new you.
You will find yourself in time and absolutely love the person you become. It’s ok to be struggling with not knowing! A lot of people (even those who aren’t addicts/alcoholics) have the same problem. Once your mind is stronger and emotions are regulated you will feel more balanced and at peace with who you are. It truly just takes time
.
Ditto. Also, getting to know yourself is a process. It can be scary at times, but those fears are all baseless. Keep pushing
That's the best part of having this disease, as crazy as that sounds! "Normies" go through life feeling the same way but never have a catalyst to make them look at themselves to figure that out! We finally have been sat down and slowed down to figure it out. Don't go at it alone. We are young and have a lot of life left hopefully don't rush the process! Just think, I'm 37. If I go to average life expectancy, all the memories I have and how long it has taken to make them....I have over that same amount of time to make even more. Try that, sit down and think of all of your life experiences and memories up to this point and how long that seems. Crazy right? I suggest journaling if you don't. Write like you are talking to yourself (or God, if you believe). It helped me a TON!
I think now is the time to build yourself rather than discover yourself. Just my thoughts though. If you'd like feel free to msg me and I can share some good faith based books in identity. Either way embrace the journey.
That's is a great question. I can definitely relate to that feeling. I think getting a therapist can help with that. Also, who and what do you want to be? Your identity isn't set in stone. It can be whatever you want it to be. You're in control of your life and your future. Just take a look at your life and ask yourself what do you want it to look like and then take small steps to get there. It's not an easy task and I think most of us are constantly changing and evolving throughout our lives and that's okay.
Try to relax. Right now I'd suggest that you're in early recovery. Personally, thru working the 12 Steps of Narcotics Anonymous, I'm gradually finding out who I am. If you're clean and sober today, then enjoy your day. You've done great!
I’m here for you. Let’s talk
Baby I had the same exact problem because for 20 years being an addict was part of my identity! You have to structure yourself into everyday life! You will learn as you go i Promise
