Having to go detox in a facility bc I can't handle the withdrawal symptoms

I could never do it myself . Jail was the only way I got clean many times over. Untill I finally realized its better to be free in jail than be a slave outside
No shame at all there. Detox is downright scary and quite dangerous. Sober is the only way and you do whatever it takes. Prayers for you.

You will be in good hands. Needed it a few weeks ago. It was not nearly as bad as I thought. The detox meds should help immensely. Hopefully there is a nice staff also, tough times for those facilities and staffing. I was fortunate to get some great people in mine. Keep your chin up, 1 day at a time. It def gets better

I was in your shoes over New Years. I felt horrible, mentally and physically, but it was definitely the right move. Good for you for looking out for yourself. This isn’t easy in any way and you want to stay safe. 
Good move. Unsafe to detox from heavy drinking on your own. Death is common.
