Having trouble sleeping lately! Is this normal?

I was a blackout drunk so I would always pass out. When I got sober I found I was sleeping more soundly at night. I also had very vivid dreams, and nightmares that I would remember. That was new… when I started doing my step work, my brain was working overtime and all the guilt and remorse was keeping me up at night. It was a few months until I felt as ease, and started a normal sleep pattern. Try meditation, or chamomile tea, both helped a little for me.

I’m just not tired. I have to make myself go to bed then I just toss and turn. I think drinking has always been my sleep aid. Scary thought!

Yes, your serotonin levels are all jacked up. It takes time to get them back to normal. A good diet, exercise and a steady bedtime will help

Makes sense. It is a depressant. It’s probably anxieties coming to the surface? All the suppressed feelings you’re finally feeling.
I have a bedtime routine, which helps. Getting exercise during the day. No electronics after a certain time, for sure!
Meditation helps me fall asleep.
Google “binaural beats” too.

That all makes sense. Guess I’m going to have to start working out again.

Insomnia is completely normal in early sobriety. Find ways to occupy yourself when you can't sleep. Meditation helps some to quiet the buzzing thoughts.
