Heading to Scottsdale for a conference. Anxious since I know there will be a lot of drinking and other stuff going on there. I will be surrounded by others from Wall Street like myself and unfortunately there is a lot of drinking and partying that happens at these events. I used to thrive at these in the past but this time I am determined to stay sober and attend a few virtual meetings while here. I also don’t want to be a social recluse and stay in my suite the entire time. I wish I had sober friends in Scottsdale.

Hey just weigh the benefit of schmoozing against the risk to your sobriety. I had a relapse where I survived the event, but it started things in motion in my mind. I would just say, if you start to feel just a shade of discomfort, get the f out. You are early in bro. Be safe. Have fun though. Play some golf.
You are so right. Yes. I intentionally scheduled a call with my Therapist while I am at the conference for added accountability. I guess there is No shame in heading back to the room if I feel out of place sober. I have much more at stake.

Meetings run from morning to night. Someone is always there, usually have a fire pit going in the courtyard with visitors and members coming and going with plenty of coffee, snacks & conversation if you want to share.
