Hello Again

I recently suffered a great loss in my life, which led to me falling off the wagon. I'm trying to find a new reason for my sobriety.

PLEASE, no suggestions of prayer, or of seeking God or HP; that stuff has never worked for me, and never will.

I only want to get better and get over my grief so that my family and friends won't worry so much. The primary reason for my sobriety has left me. The primary reason for my existence is gone.

Wellness as a whole os much better served by being sober. Our emotional health relies on our brain being unclouded. Perhaps choose sobriety so that you can learn to cope with the loss in a healthy way.

Steven I was in your situation 15 years ago … I lost my fiancé and I was beyond help .. in hindsight I did no good to myself and or those around me and it definitely did not bring him back … i drank like a fish and blackout out … i wanted to be numb .. when the alcohol wore away It did not change my depression… I found a friend that I stayed with who was supportive and concerned and that helped a great deal … you never get over grief you get through it .. I los joined a group for grief … maybe you can look into that

You should get sober for you. Not for anyone else. Your own physical and mental wellness. I can tell you tons of stories I have heard of people getting sober for someone else. It never sticks. I’ve posted it several times.. lol he quote from Rocky…

“The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done. Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that!” ~ Rocky Balboa

You’re allowed to be sad. You don’t have to numb it with alcohol. Eventually you’ll have to deal with your grief and using only takes up your time and makes everything worse.

Don’t worry about a reason for sobriety but do it for yourself
