Hello all, I went sober the first 6 months of 2021 and I was KILLING it. Promotions. Better shape. Learning new things. Since I have went back to binge drinking with my old college buddies (I’m 30) and I realize they aren’t really friends of mine but just people to booze with. When I was sober I didn’t hang with them. I guess I’m wondering how people deal with losing bar friends when being sober completely which is something I’ll be doing all through 2022

Hi Mike, losing friends is a natural progression of life, especially when you’re making a huge life change like this. What’s important is to make new (sober) friends. That’s what most of us do and that’s how we manage. I suggest getting plugged into a program of some sorts, there are so many different ones with different styles. Some of my favorites are: The Luckiest Club, SMART Recovery, Recovery Dharma, and AA.
