Hello everyone, I am new here and would like to

Hello everyone, I am new here and would like to share my story. If you take the time to read this it’s much appreciated. It’s hard to open up on a personal level about something that I have been ashamed of and have hid from others for so long but here it goes. It all started when I turned 21. At first it was just fun with friends, when you’re that age you think drinking is cool and it’s hard to see how addictive the habit can become. I loved it and eventually it progressed to drinking/getting drunk every night. Now I am going on 26 and am stuck with a terrible habit that took years in the making. In the past 5 years drinking has negatively effected my life socially, financially, physically and mentally. I honestly believe it has been the main cause for most of my problems in recent years. I am lucky to have met a girl around a year ago who has shown me that I don’t need to drink to enjoy life and that I can be happy and function without alcohol. I also have really been starting to worry about my health lately. I have come to realize that I there is so much in life to live for and I want to get my life back so I can work towards my dreams and goals. Drinking is the sole thing that’s been holding me back for years. I now have accepted that I have a problem and want to stop, but it’s tough to break a habit that I’ve been doing for so long. I have tried to quit many times, usually not making it past a few days, so I want to try to use this app and make it a new start. I am currently on days 3 of sobriety and hope that I can continue going strong. If anyone would like to be friends feel free to send me a friend request. It’s difficult, but I want to become a better person for myself and everyone around me. If you took the time to read my story thank you. I look forward to becoming part of this community and hope that I can support others as well.

That's awesome to have a significant other to support you in your sobriety. She's a keeper.

Letting go of alcohol is hard. Trust me. I don't talk about my previous relationship with alcohol much because it's embarrassing but get out of it now! If you're struggling consult with an addiction counselor, contact your doctor, go to treatment.
