Only took me a 24 hour relapse to set my entire world ablaze.
Done it many times. Reset for me this time was July 4th. One day at a time. Best of luck on your journey
Try counseling or a good church. AA was not for me either but you definitely need some type of support
I went nearly 10 months and then fell back into it. Harder than ever to stop. I hate myself for it too.
Read Alcohol explained! You will never want to drink again!
I'm not a daily drinker I'm a binge drinker. Before I started my journey to sobriety (about 1.5 years ago) it wasn't uncommon for me to not drink at all for a couple weeks. I just can't handle it when I did most of the time. 110% or nothing when it came to drinking. I think that's why its so difficult for me to completely quit. Seems to be about 3-4 months in I end up talking myself into having a few too many. I regroup the next day and continue on the sober path but it worries me that sooner or later that 1 time could be bad. I'm a work in progress and I'm going to continue fighting the good fight. This app has actually been very helpful. Like I said I'm not really into AA meetings so anything that helps build up my sober network is great!
Wow. Some good responses. I didnāt want anything to do with AA mostly because of the God thing. I am still working on my higher power and am coming to terms with the word God having many meanings. Someone recently told me that God hasnāt failed, organized religion has. I guess when man gets involved everything gets fucked up. Anyway, I am attending AA on zoom mostly and have found it helpful.
When I drank one was not enough.could not stop.I was 26 years old.when I got sober.I had to be open to every thing .and change everything.if I was not willing .I would not be here.34 years sober.
Hi Mark, i have been sober for 10 months. I quit drinking in the past only to go back to it months later. I did go to AA. I did not feel like it was for me. It seems like years ago AA was the only place to go. There are so many groups that have helped me. Annie Grace, Jae at Soberā¦again(he has a live chat every weekend that helps me so much on You Tube) Kevin OāHara, simon chapell, craig beck. I really feel like i found the right place for me. I found that AA was depressing for me. The group i was in focused on missing drinking. I want to look at drinking as a poison. I find that the people i mention get into understanding why you should look at alcohol as a poison in your life. I hope this helps you. I am sure that AA helps so many people but it just was not for me and thatās ok. It does not mean i will drink again because i did not go to AA.
