Hello my name is Kimberly and my sobriety date is

Hello my name is Kimberly and my sobriety date is 02/02/2019 & I’ve been so depressed and im trying to reach out for some advice. I have a 18 year old daughter who is a heroin addict and I can’t deal with being around her when she’s on drugs it makes me feel sad and I just can’t deal with her energy am I wrong. Second my mom has always been abstinence from anything mind altering, but she’s 77 & I love her but my family is drama is it wrong to shut my mom out of my life while I pull myself together? Thank You.

This is tough for sure. My brother is an addict. I had to cut him out of my life completely. Unfortunately that also meant my nephews as well. Remember your sobriety is number one. You need and deserve to look after your own mental health. I would say if you are shutting people out because it is easy.. that’s kinda a cop out. But if you are truly suffering, there is no fault in looking after yourself. My sponsor alway tells me to make sure my own yard is clean. That’s the most important thing. Good luck. Family is always a touchy subject for sure.

Thank You .

Try to heal yourself from this pain, Al-Anon works wonders! Find some meetings in your area and learn how to cope with things you can't control. Prays for your daughter to find a better solution🙏

Thank You  Very Much. :v:

You need to care for yourself. I needed to get divorced and leave all my ‘friends’ to get sober. I’m a parent too and I get it, but you know you can’t help her until she wants help, sometimes tough love is needed. Just my 2 cents. Best wishes
