Hello strong, fighting friends

Hello strong, fighting friends.
I’m back at sobriety. I made it 30 days over a week ago, but made a reactive decision during a lonely evening to relapse. It’s been humbling to realize more & more that I can’t do this on my own, as much as I can try to make myself believe I can. I have found an online AA meeting that has helped… sharing progress with y’all encourages me, too. This addiction to alcohol has robbed me of so much- relationships with friends, family & even with myself. The day by day journey continues- I’m hoping to experience the fullness of life again, not alone, not isolated, not living with daily guilt, sadness & regret. I know I’ve got more fight in me even though it doesn’t feel like it sometimes. I’m grateful I didn’t wake up with a hangover today, which gave me the energy to go to the gym & even start to cook again. It’s my 32nd birthday next week- the gift I am giving myself is sobriety & accepting who I am in this journey. Love & peace to you all!

Welcome Kandi! It’s great that you found out that you can’t do this by yourself. We all find this out the hard way. AA meetings are a great place to find friends and not feel so lonely. If possible, I suggest you go to a few in person. Even better, ask around if there are women only meetings. You can share and feel comfortable. The fellowship of AA has given me so much. What a wonderful birthday present to give to yourself!:peace_symbol:

Hi Kandi! Yes, community is huge in maintaining sobriety! Such an important realization, if you stick with this sobriety thing you will get to experience the fullness of life, I promise you! Just remember, reach out before you act! Good luck!
