Hello. Today is my day one again. I found this app this morning. I hope it helps me as I know it’s important to be a part of a community that has the same struggles as I do and who understands.
I have been struggling a lot the last 6 years, since my Mom died in July of 2016. I lost my sister August of 2013 at age 51 due to colon cancer. My Dad died February of 2012. I have 2 older sisters and a son. Unfortunately I am not very close to my sister that used to live close to me. I have been drinking alone a lot. It numbs me and makes things worse as most know and I wake up the next morning and hate myself. I have been to 2 IOP’s and I did Tempest online. I am not ready to give up. My poison is wine. Merlot, White Zinfandel, Cabernet. It is causing a lot of anxiety and high blood pressure. I am moving again. The 5th time since my Mom passed. This time I am moving to the beach. So on to new adventure and hopefully new friends and a sober life.

My first day back at it too. Trying to avoid going to the bar as we speak.

Try to stay busy with something you like to do. Also I read on here to be mindful and think about why you should not drink. I am doing okay today so far. We can do this.

Welcome back! I’m glad you are here.

Oh goodness, Sandy, I am so sorry to hear of your losses. You have certainly sustained a lot of trauma over these past 6 years. Have you had a chance to try and unpack some of those feelings in a healthier way like speaking with a good therapist? Keeping in mind the best fit for you may not be the first therapist you’re matched with. No one thing makes everything better, but therapy has been very helpful for me in maintaining my sobriety. Wishing you health & healing

Hello and welcome

I’ve had a lot of day ones since living alone 15 months. It’s hard alone. I found getting out of the house evenings, I drive Uber part time, I play hockey, I walk - sitting around? Too much time to think about the drink.

If you are really struggling, try to break down the days to minutes if you have to, take away the heaviness of the task at hand, you can do it! Stay strong! :black_heart::muscle:t3:

Sounds really tough. All I can say is I know it's possible to get and stay sober one day at a time.
