Hello Star, read Alcohol Explained by William Porter it's easy to read and understand what alcohol does to keep you addicted. You can read the first few chapters on his website.
Gillian Tietz has a website called Sober Powered. She's a recovering alcoholic with a wealth of knowledge and information there.
I will talk sobriety anytime. Reach out. Prayers always :sunflower:

From there keep looking for more information. Books websites podcasts. 1 tidbit of info helps. Even your local library. Don't be afraid of what anyone thinks. It's you that counts. The old saying if there's doesn't stink
You can a will do this. Nobody needs Alcohol!

Hi Star, if the depression is the root of your unhealthy relationship alcohol; try "cleaning up your mental mess" by Caroline Leaf ... if it is more so the root lies with a partner/relationship; try "codependent no more" by melody Beattie. Last suggestion, if the root is ultimately yourself, try my go-to "unfu*k yourself" by Gary John Bishop... functioning or not, alcohol is bad news bears most of the time 🫤

Thank you all so much, I’ll definitely look into those books && check that website out

Definitely read some books! But first ask yourself “is this the life that I want to live?” Clearly the answer is no. Once you’ve mentally made the decision to make a change amazing things will happen. But you have to REALLY want it!!!

The first 164 pages of the AA big book along with the other suggestions above.

AA saved my life. I needed the help I’ve gotten from the people there. It’s not religious either.

I have also needed counseling and medication for depression. It is the most common mental illness and very treatable.

Not sure about resources, since I quit cold turkey 12 1/2 years ago, but I’m serious, you can text here anytime, 24/7 and we can talk. Always willing to help out someone on the road to sobriety.

I second “This Naked Mind”. Just read it again. I’d also recommend checking out Holly Whitaker. Irreverent, funny but dead-on in her sobriety journey. I’m also reading Refuge Recovery which is sobriety with a Buddhist bent. All good stuff.

Thats cool i did not know. I need calendasr for my sanity lol its a tool i use to stay consistent and goal oriented. If you set little goals for yourself it starts to build confidence and the ability to foucus your energy and makes reaching the big goal swiftly. IMO

Alcohol Explained is a good read

Reading is great. Finding like minded people is a great thing as well. It may hurt but, deleting certain people in your life and finding people that want to win in life is a big thing. Not everyone’s win is the same. Cut the rope, let go and you don’t owe anyone an explanation. :black_heart:

Totally. And has ‘in your face’ brutal honesty. Love that book and calendar.
