Help, I need Sleep!

Any Suggestions on how to sleep? I have tried melatonin and it didn’t work. H

I use ZQuil Free (no alcohol). Just the sleep medicine. Works well for me, but some say it makes them groggy in the morning. Once I’m up and moving I’m fine. Helps to knock me out better than melatonin or anything else. I took trazodone for a while in early sobriety, but it is also and antidepressant, and I didn’t like how it made me feel throughout the day, but I did sleep like a champ on it. Talk to your doctor about that one.

A bedtime routine was key. Sleepy time tea, journaling, stretching, a chapter of my book. It took some time to rebalance the sleep.

I listen to sleep meditations on YouTube or a good fictional podcast

My question would be, how long have you been sober? Brains are a complicated organ especially when they heal. I went though spells in early sobriety I couldn’t sleep but a couple hours at a time and my brain raced like wildfire. I had the most vivid dreams also during that time. Then I went through a period of time I slept seemingly all the time. It lasted about 6 months until I started to equalize. I remember that in very early sobriety I couldn’t sleep so I logged into zoom a meetings if I were awake

Guided meditation has helped me. Breath work videos on YouTube.

I used gravol

The way I've found is to keep hydrated, no caffeine after lunch, and 5mg of melatonin about an hour before I fall asleep. I also meditate most nights, releasing any stress, and a short prayer/wish showing gratitude for the past 24 hours and serenity for the next 24 hours.
