One to one with the right counselor was good for me. Don't like the traditional paths most people travel either.

By the way, music is the route to all things beautiful. Keep playing, nothing could be more beneficial.

Thanks

Just a small comment. When I used n drank, I was my own Higher Power. Now I hav one bigger than my addictions OR my ego. Consider the benefits of trying out a Higher Power n open up to that. See where that leads you. If you want Sobriety bad enough, you will move heaven n earth to get it. I’ll pray for ya! Don’t give up. Imagine a better life without the slavery of using. It can be yours but not without giving up the old ways. All th best! Sky❤️‍🔥✨

Keep it simple Bradley don’t overthink it! Much love :two_hearts:

Dude AA is the place for needy people. Stop worrying about what you "dont like" and get in there and cathart! You owe it to yourself to make an honest go of it!

Me trying my best never cut it. I finally surrendered and took the suggestions in AA, NA, and CA. It’s been 35 years, one day at a time. Best to you

Check out recovery dharma/ refuge recovery. It’s a bit Buddhist oriented (meditation/reading/sharing). Both online and in person. I enjoy them much more than AA!

I'm not an active AA member, but there are certainly parts of the program I agree with. Maybe try reading the big book and taking from it what makes sense to you.
I relapsed about 6 weeks ago and decided I'd try counseling with an addiction specialist. So far, so good.
Good luck to you, and hopefully, you'll find your path to sobriety.

We can’t fix what we got with what we got. Nothing changes if nothing changes.

Think about what you’re saying.
Basically I’m sick and dying and I want to get better. But I’m not interested in doctors, medicine, or alternatives.

lol dude no one “likes” AA when they’re trying to quit drinking. You just keep going until you like it.

I will not maintain sobriety without AA period. They are now my friends and I look forward to seeing them.

You get desperate enough, and what you "don't like" won't matter. You will need it. It's amazing how much desperation can open your mind to things you thought weren't possible

There are many paths to sobriety, some people use programs like AA, some people find recovery through their church, all I know is you cannot and will not stay sober by yourself on your own, you need help, we all did.

Thank everyone for their posts/replies. I have so many gifts n blessings n still sponsoring n getting to meetings, doing service work.I went to Any Lengths in my active use. Go to any lengths now for my Sobriety n carry the message daily. I love the life n the work n service. Great friends n a sense of purpose! Love my Sober Family! You guys ROCK! Not to be too critical, but that sounds like a weak excuse. Control your BS, don't let it control you

It took many years trying to quit my way before I surrendered. Honest Open Willing, gets US/WE to the party(Recovery). That’s the HOW:peace_symbol::pray:
