Helping others, picking up trash or holding a door open it’s the little things of good we for others and the world as a whole makes it a better place to live.
In sobriety I’ve learned that it’s not about me anymore. Ok well the first 3-6 months yes, it’s about you while we recover. Then it becomes about others, or your community. It’s not about how big I can stand out with my kindness. It’s not about how much money can I throw at this situation(which does help) but more about our attitudes, our good ambitions and letting go of ourselves for the greater good of the world and it’s living things!
Ask yourself these questions:
- How can I help?
- Am I being kind and loving?
When I have these questions readily available, my mind changes towards the right thing to do.
It’s not always easy. We aren’t perfect, but practicing this makes it easier to make the right decision, change any negative situation into a positive one and we feel better about ourselves.
