I made it 9 days, then I lost control and went on a 2 day bender. My best this year was 13 days. I start treatment next week. I just hope I can gain some traction this time around.
AA works FYI
One day at a time
Sending my prayers I've been there before. Just slow down and take it one day at a time
Been there many times.
That was a long time ago.
It's frustrating. I get it.
In AA we are given suggestions.
90 meetings in 90 days
Get a sponsor who will take you through the steps.
Get phone numbers in AA and use them. Especially if you're thinking of drinking.
Have you been doing any of these?
Did drinking help you this time?
Alcohol feeds us a great big lie that says, this time everything will be OK. But it never is, is it?
We have to learn to play the scene forward. What happens if you pick up a drink? You may feel some ease and comfort for a little while, but sooner or later you will be right back where you started, feeling more shame like you're feeling right now, realizing that you accomplished absolutely nothing.
The great thing about Alcoholics Anonymous is if you do what is suggested sooner or later those promises that they talk about on page 83 in the Big Book will start coming true for you in your life.
If you do what is suggested, you never have to drink again.
Drinking never helps. I don't know why I have been believing the same lie for years. I can never just have one or a couple.
I’m sure most or all of us have had that misconception. It what we do!
Welcome to the club.
It's a club of freedom.
Do those suggestions Meg.
It will get better.
Glad you're here.
I’m gonna be 45days sober tomorrow, all thanks to AA and their 12Step program. If you really wnna get sober, then it’s time to take action. You’ll take a deep dive into your alcoholism and it’ll blow your mind how well this all works if you decide to put the work in! It’s not easy but the program is simple! LETS GET TO WORK!
Keep your head up and keep trying. You're worth it. I get my support from AA. There is know other way for me.
When you get out, stay close to the program. Best advice I was given 18 years ago when I got sober….Don’t drink and go to meetings! I say it daily. Truest statement EVER!
Great advice Dave! Especially with "play the scene forward ". AA has given me the pause button. That pause that gives me a choice to do something different. Good stuff
