Hey all. I was sober for 4.5 months and felt

Hey all. I was sober for 4.5 months and felt amazing. But I was so lonely that one weekend I said screw it I need to have beers with the boys. I couldn’t stand to stay in again solo. I also find it very difficult to meet girls if you don’t drink. It’s kind of a non starter on the apps.

I figured I have tools now and am in a good place. I can manage my drinking. Three weeks later I’ve been drunk probably two of the weeks and feel lonelier than I did before. So everything I was warned about in terms of thinking you can do it on your own appears to be accurate. I’m no different and not special in this regard.

Anybody know any sober dating apps that aren’t complete ghost towns?

Your struggles are real Justin. As someone who's battled alcoholism for 20+ years I have been sober in many stages of my life, but sobriety seems like a disease that society wants nothing to do with. Every relapse I've had is for exactly what you're going through.

I will tell you, that my younger brother was in a similar situation, got himself into rehab, stayed sober, met the most amazing woman in the world and is living a life that would be impossible for an alcoholic to have.

When you do meet someone, don't you want it to start out with "I was sober and...." Rather than "I was hammered and...."

Thank you so much for your kind words. It is much appreciated.

Super great to hear I’m not alone.

Most sober dating apps I agree are ghost towns. I started having more luck on Feeld. It’s not a sober dating app, but one that is focused on diversity and inclusion (by that I mean all sexualities, gender identities, kinks…) and I’ve found that there are a lot of sober people and also that no one has a problem with me being sober.
