Hey everyone 👋🏻 I had 13 months, lost 13 months

Hey everyone :wave:t2: I’m new here…I had 13 months, relapsed recently and found myself in jail for the first time ever Friday soooo anyone on here in the North Charleston SC area I’m looking to make AA friends and if I’m lucky enough maybe get some rides to meetings… it’s time to clean up some wreckage and make some serious changes..

Check out the meeting guide app. It’s blue with a chair. You’ll be able to find nearby meetings both in person and zoom. It’s a good place to start. Best of luck to you! Starting over isn’t the end, just a new beginning with a better understanding of what doesn’t work.

Good for you! In mn I looked up AA meetings and called the number that comes up. They were a big help. At AA they offered me rides if I need them.

I’m part of meeting guide but there’s no meetings near me in walking distance and money is tight with my current situation. Appreciate the comments though

Don’t beat yourself up we all make mistakes. Learn from this and your future is bright!

Maybe try zoom meetings if you can’t get to an in person? I think the website is everythingAA meetings 24/7

Don’t give yourself excuses, no meetings near, no money, current situation, no car. What do any of these things have to do with your own God given right to free will? Not bringing religion into this because I am a Christian and my girlfriend of four years is a Muslim. You can make a choice to be sober in whatever your situation is. Dark room with the blinds closed, completely broke, raising children. You control your destiny and you know that when you are sober you are the best you. Try it for 30 days and see how much better your life is. You already know because you have done it before. All the best,
Jason

I hope you’re able to find a local connection. Try to get into some zoom meetings that are local, you might just be able to link up with something through that.

I apologize that you took my statement incorrectly but I’m just trying to deal with being at rock bottom/going to jail for the first time ever. I am absolutely taking nothing lightly and fully intend to do everything in my power to take the right steps moving forward. I don’t appreciate the judgement Jason but that’s for your words of wisdom regardless.

I had 18 months and had to start over. Over 5 years now. You can do it. Working steps works for me👌

I had 3.5 years alcohol free and I had a drink on my cruise and I am forgiving myself and going forward in treatment. I know I have to be honest about it's impact on me but I still am in recovery

It's devastating. When it happened to me I stayed sober for 5 years after that. It's a good motivator. Move forward step by step, write a gratitude list, start your steps. Legal stuff is so stressful. I got a DUI and it was a few years of cleanup. Hang in there! Don't give up.

I just saw this post and it says it’s from a month ago. I hope you are well! Life will constantly throw challenges at you, and the first thing you need to do is work towards improving your conscious contact with your Higher Power through prayer and meditation. That, and get yourself to meetings! There is a LOT of power in the fellowship! And this app is lovely! Always here if you need to talk.

Thanks for reaching out Jason! I’m back at 36 days sober today and happier than I can remember being in a long time. Unlike my last go at sobriety I’ve made a conscious effort to work on my emotional sobriety as well as my physical sobriety and have nothing but gratitude to be sober today!! :raised_hands:t2:

Fantastic! Improvements to ourselves, particularly in the relationship we have with ourselves, are paramount to continued sobriety! Building healthy confidence and self esteem is critical! For too long we’ve been inflicting pain on ourselves due to our various character defects. In sobriety all things are possible!

So hard, been to jail. It's horrible and shocking. Lots of shame. You can clean this up. You made the first step. So good! It gets better I promise you!
