Hey everyone. My name is Bri and I’m an addict.
I’m not here to pretend I have this whole recovery thing figured out. I’m here because I’m still walking the road, still learning, still healing, and still choosing another day clean.
My story isn’t a pretty one. Addiction took pieces of me I never thought I could lose. It brought me to places I never imagined I would go and introduced me to a version of myself I barely recognized. I’ve experienced the destruction, the consequences, the loss, the guilt, and the kind of pain that changes you from the inside out.
But somewhere beneath all of that destruction, there was still a part of me that wanted to live.
Recovery has taught me that sobriety isn't simply about putting down a drug. It's about learning how to live without running from yourself. It's about facing the wreckage, sitting with the uncomfortable truths, rebuilding what you can, grieving what you can't, and slowly becoming someone you can look in the mirror and recognize again.
Some days I feel strong. Some days I feel like I'm standing on shaking ground. But I’ve learned that having a hard day doesn't mean I've failed. It means I'm human and I don't have to pick up over it.
So I'm introducing myself not as someone who has conquered addiction, but as someone who refuses to let addiction conquer me.
I'm grateful to be here.
I'm grateful for another day.
I'm grateful for recovery.
And most of all, I'm grateful that my story didn't end where I thought it would.
One day at a time. One step at a time. One breath at a time.
Ifyou're walking this road too, just know this:
You don't have to have your whole life figured out today. You just have to keep choosing recovery today.
Much love to everyone fighting their way back to themselves. ❤️🩹

Hello Bri. Hang in there and you will get through this.
Thank-you hun.One day at a time definitely works.
I pray for us all, on this journey to see the beauty of a renewed life. I certainly agree, “ one day, one step at a time “. I find that to being, this journey one has to start by self forgiveness.
