Hey guys. I’m trying to get it all together for the holidays, family and all - let’s share!

Everyone has told me “have a plan.” Bring your own alcohol-free drinks to the celebrations, prepare your response if someone asks why you’re not drinking (ex: I’m DD.) And don’t be afraid to leave if you’re triggered. Have a friend or sponsor you can call setup beforehand if a craving hits.

Hi Katie! I’m just going to try and enjoy this Thanksgiving. Fortunately, I’m not celebrating at my house, so I don’t have to get it all together. I just need to be sweet and loving towards my wife and children. Hopefully I can be that way for my mom, dad, and siblings as well. Don’t drink, and be loving…that’s my job this year. Are you hosting a big dinner? If so, then I can understand you have a lot to do. You may need to say the serenity prayer more than a few times lol. I’m not worrying about Christmas/New Years just yet. As it gets closer, I’ll deal with that. My goal this season is to stay sober and enjoy it. I’m not in charge of making it special for everyone else. I can only control me. I’ll be helpful and present, but I’m not responsible for everyone else’s attitudes, or good time.
