Hey I’m new here…not sure how this works. I don’t

Hey I’m new here…not sure how this works. I don’t have much of a support network. I’m 5 months sober and having a bit of a hard time.

Well you came to the right place girl! We are here to talk to and there is always someone to listen.
I highly recommend going to meetings at AA or NA. It can be nerve wracking at first if you have never been. But it’s a huge support network.

Like Andrew suggested go to a meeting. You don’t have to say or do anything at these meetings if you don’t want to. Just sit and listen but by all means speak if you like

You don't need 12-step meetings, they will break down your self-esteem instead of building it up

Welcome Amanda! First, you’re doing great! 5 months of sobriety is quite an achievement! Most of us find help and support thru various recovery programs. They help keep us mindful and focused on our recovery. Take a look around and see what resonates with you. You can do it

Please stop. I’m begging you. I’m super glad your sober but please stop with the negativity.

what would you recommend?

I'm in my first SMART meeting and it is actually super positive and non-shamey. They have a healthier approach to relapse

You only feed my fire, Brian. But I wasn't talking to you

thank you!

i’ve heard good things! it’s definitely something to look into

thanks man! I appreciate the kind words

This works however you want it to. You're in control of your journey. Sobriety is so hard so it's okay to struggle. There's many different groups and resources out there so feel free to try them all. There's groups that have in person meetings and online meetings. You don't need to stick with any group if you don't feel totally comfortable. A group can be extremely helpful, but also isnt mandatory for sobriety. If you have insurance, I'd highly recommend getting a therapist. Feel free to message me if you need to talk.

Hey Juliana~ sounds like you may have had a bad experience at a 12 step meeting and if so I’m really sorry that’s what has happened ((hugs girl)). Hasn’t been my experience AT ALL, being in the rooms has literally saved my life. Please don’t discount what has saved many people jus like me. Sending you a friend request, hope you accept it! Mad a$$ props to you and your sobriety btw…. You rock too, take it easy kk?

Welcome. Tons of support here

Greetings and congrats on the 5 months, keep it up! perhaps a little poem may help lift your spirits-
"All that you are will demand your patience, understanding, and resilience. You will be tested at every crossroad, with every breath and every leap, but to know life for all its worth is to climb every mountain, no matter how steep." - Courtney Peppernell

I'm happy it worked for you but I will keep speaking out

Welcome Amanda! 5 months of sobriety is amazing!! I know there are times it’s not very easy but keep doing the next right thing! Things will get better!!

Hey welcome to the app! Glad to see you took the first step of reaching out when you began hanging a hard time! Nobody really knows how it goes when you first get here but you just take it one day at a time and you’ll find yourself growing each and every day just by reading and seeing that you’re not alone and there are real people out there just like you going through the same thing
