Hi all. Alittle sharing for me. I am a career alcoholic. 30 years. Good recovery here and there. For the most part a very heavy drinker. I even got a master’s degree in clinical psychology and substance abuse thinking I could cure me. A 4.0 as a full blown drunk. I counseled and helped others, but could not help me.
Well two weeks ago I hit rock bottom and finally after all these years got the call of desperation. I detoxed myself which was agonizing. I was so sick. I truly wanted to die. I had a spiritual awakening while Puking, pooping and sweating what smelled like rotten eggs for over a week. Couldn’t eat or sleep. My legs were like rubber. My equilibrium was totally off. I know I will never drink again. My body cannot take another detox like that.
My point is never give up! Thirty years but I know that was my last detox or die. No exaggeration.
I am terrible and don’t do well in organized groups from scouts as a young girl, church, AA. Like oil and water. So working a program pretty much alone. But you should! I am an outlier. A few friends that work the program and now Loosid. Very happy to be here.
Remember, it is easier to stay sober than to get sober. I feel marvelous. Back to walking four miles a day, reading, cooking. So much time, I don’t know what to do next. Excited and grateful to have a new life. I am reborn!
Here to chat. Here to help. I have done it all rehab, DUI, broken jaw, black eyes, blackouts, passing out in public, you name it, I have probably done it as a drunk!
Love and hugs to all

. We have been down a similar path with our drinking, education, and careers.. I’ve finally had my wake up call that it’s time to help myself before more than blackouts, a chipped tooth, some black & blues, losing things, making a fool of myself, and relationship issues continue happening
Working hard now! (If only my sleep schedule would agree
..I know it will in time)
