Hi Everyone, I should be an oldtimer by now but

Hi Everyone, I should be an oldtimer by now but this is a very tough disease. I've had years at a time, 1, 2, 5, 1, 2 etc since I was young. I've been a sponsor, worked the steps and let it all go. I love hearing your stories. My Aunt recently died an early death from alcoholism. We were very close. It's eye opening. I know my liver is not very happy so day 2. Thank you all for posting.

Welcome KS! I can relate. I got sober in 1989. Relapsed in 2016. I have a buddy I got sober with who is celebrating 33 years while I’m now just coming up on 11 months. The important thing is I feel better today than I have in years. Glad your here :peace_symbol:

Same Kelly. My friends in the program are celebrating long term sobriety. I’m coming up on 60 days. This time is better by far. My sponsor has experience with drinking after a period of sobriety and is now 12 years sober. She had to kick my behind a little and remind me I’m not new to the program. That I have experienced sobriety. Once I surrendered and became willing (which wasn’t easy) it all started to change as I did the work. My life is finally getting better. And pretty quickly. Full disclosure, my life while drinking was Miserable so the shift to better was simply being able to make better choices and show up for opportunities. All the best to you. Our experience will help others soon.
