Hi everyone! I've made it to 4 months now, but it's been really rough lately. I really need a new job. If you have ever worked in a restaurant, then you know how drugs and alcohol are literally always present. I've been dealing with a lot of pain also. Yes, I'm following doctors' orders. I had rotater cuff repair 3 months ago and need to have the other one fixed as well. I'm really feeling stuck in my crazy life. TIA for any input for me
Jerald, get and stay very close & tight with your sober tribe. If you don’t have close sober relationships, go to lots of meetings daily and talk about your challenges.
I’ve seen many people get through similar situations and challenges.
YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!
Do you have a sponsor?
Oh wow, that's an injury that I think would be difficult to serve with even just physically. Not to mention sobriety. I got out of serving and transitioned my customer service to Sales. Idk if you're ready for a career change. Either way, at the end of the day, I would just be candid and stand on your choice for sobriety. One of my coolest and closest friends from the service industry seemed supportive until it came down to not drinking or smoking in front of me, lol. That's the caviat. Not everyone can come with you on your sobriety journey. Well wishes. Be strong
I found that the 3-4 month mark was very difficult, wanting to grab a glass of wine. I was very close to doing it too but I didn’t thank goodness. Working in the industry has got to be a big obstacle for your sobriety. A new job outside of that would be great for you but until then hang in there. It’s so worth it
You're absolutely right! Remembering back now, that's about the time that my pink bubble bursted! And the real battle would begin.. But after the all these years, you are correct, it is so very worth it!!!
Yes my brother, familiar with your pain! And as well ,my daughter has two years in the program and also works in a restaurant. She tells me of all the challenges dodging drugs and alcohol that are so readily available.. I pretty much tell her the same thing Danny W. has mentioned in this post! They're great words, and fantastic advice..
"Not everyone can come with you on your sobriety Journey!"..
Truer words were never spoken..
Thanks, guys!
